Part One: Thematic and Conceptual Shooting
My granddaughter, Lily, came to visit this week. We spent part of a morning in our orchard. Perched on my daughter's shoulders, I wanted to capture her as she experienced, for the first time, picking fruit herself and carrying it in for breakfast.
Part Two: Getting in your pictures
This definitely hit home with me as I am very infrequently in front of the camera, I am much more comfortable being the one shooting the photos. This was taken of my husband, Lily and I as we were leaving for a neighborhood BBQ on 4th of July...happy times with 2 of my favorite people in the world

Lifestyle Week One
So excited to begin the Lifestyle class.....my subject for the Character/Details and Character/Conflict is my granddaughter, Lily, a character indeed.
3 of Lily's current favorite things in life are water play, reading....Goodnight Moon is clearly an all day option and not just for bedtime, and her mom's ever popular I-Pad whose access must be strictly monitored as it's fast become an obsession...with it's amazing kid friendly "apps".

Week Four Using Natural Light
Back Lit
ISO 200 f/2.8 Shutter Speed 1/250
Front Lit
ISO 200 f/16 Shutter Speed 1/160
Little Tucker is always game for retrieving the ball from the pool, no matter what the temperature or lighting condition
Natural Reflector
ISO 200 f/8 Shutter Speed 1/400
I used the plaster of the pool and the water as a natural reflector
Side Lit
Please review minimizing facial shadows....my pop=up flash was the only one available and would have conflicted with the zoom I was using
My son's birthday was this week and we also had one of our first true summer weather days....just in time for a pool party....he humored me as he is always reluctant to pose for a phot0

Photo Basics Week Three Composition
Photographic Principle: Composition
I enjoyed the artistic opportunity in this assignment.
I especially tried to keep "cut-offs" in mind..whether it be a body part or just where the subject lies in the frame.... I find that in trying to capture a finished image the first time I often short myself on the ability to creatively manipulate the end result...many times I am reviewing my photo's wishing for just a bit more wiggle room :)
